LAKE ANNECY ELOPEMENT (DESTINATION WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY)

ALONG WITH SOME BEAUTIFUL PHOTOS OF THIS LAKE ANNECY ELOPEMENT, OUT IN THE FRENCH ALPS, WE CHAT A BIT ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF UNDERSTANDING (AND ABSOLUTELY ADORING) CHEMISTRY BETWEEN PEOPLE. NOT ONLY FOR WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY, BUT FOR FAMILY AND MATERNITY PHOTOGRAPHY, ALL OF IT. PLUS, WE GET TO OOGLE AT THIS PAIR OF ABSOLUTE HEARTBREAKERS, IN AN CRAZY STUNNING PLACE. (AND PEOPLE ASK WHY I’M WILLING TO FLY AND TRAVEL SO MUCH WITH WORK?!)

If you want to get straight to pictures and past the waffle- do it. They are SO worth a gander.

Can we talk about chemistry? You know, those invisible sparklers you see and feel between people, that give you all the feels and chills and reaffirm your absolute love of life? Yeah, that stuff. I’m into it. And thank god I am, because it’s my job to capture it, and shamelessly get all up in the middle of it.

FRANKLY, WRITING IT LIKE THAT MAKES ME SOUND (AND FEEL) A LITTLE SOCIALLY INEPT AND UNAWARE OF PEOPLES’ PERSONAL SPACE, BUT IT’S QUITE THE OPPOSITE. PROMISE.

Ever since I can remember, I have felt super-uber-really-very-tres sensitive to the feelings of those around me. We have a word for everything these days right? I believe the correct one here is ’empath’. Growing up, this was at times an affliction. But over time, and with some life lessons in practising good boundaries, it has become one of my greatest and most genuine character traits.

I also really like people. Lovely human beans rock. I’m a people person. I like how it feels to smile and say hi to someone, like, really really love it. The years I lived in London were interesting mind, people on the tube thought I was bloody insane.

Add to that a strange brain that has seen pictures in everything since forever, and you have an opportunity. An opportunity to find something which allows me to happily and wholeheartedly see people, like really SEE people, share them, and show them. Growing up with my Dad’s mad photography skills, literally served me the perfect medium on a silver platter. This. Photography.

AND SHOOTING PEOPLES’ MOST SOULFUL AND MEANINGFUL MOMENTS IS A FREAKING GOD-SEND.

SO CHEMISTRY- CHEMISTRY. AH. SIGH. *CLOSES EYES AND TILTS HEAD BACK*.

CHEMISTRY.

You can have chemistry with a person for like 1 minute when they serve you a coffee-to-go, in a single fleeting look on the street, meeting a new dog with the waggiest tail. And that can light up an entire day right? What about the chemistries which are macroscopic by comparison? You know, like your siblings, your parents, your kids- your partner?

WE CAN GET SO USED TO THAT LEVEL OF COMFORT, AND WE CAN BE SO CLOSE TO THEM FOR SO LONG, IT CAN BE HARD TO SEE THE WOOD FOR THE TREES; THE CHEMISTRY FOR THE COMFORT.

I want my pictures to remind couples and families, just how magic and special it is. How precious and how bad-ass that chemistry can make us feel. Letting someone like me, get all up in your little bubble, see your connection and chemistry, and find a way to lock it into beautiful photos, is the thing. My camera is just my way of showing you what I see, and how I see it.

IF MY PHOTOS GIVE YOU FEELS (WHICH I SINCERELY HOPE THEY DO) THAT’S NOT MY DOING SO MUCH, AS THEIRS.

And here be my example of said magic- Oli & Lil. These photos, are for me, mega emosh. Not only are they couple goals in so many ways; people who have been together for such a long time, and chosen their life, their home and their friends, to reflect how beautiful they both are- they are also dear friends of mine. Do you feel chemistry in these photos?

Because, don’t get me wrong, we travelled far and hiked hard for that banging Lake Annecy view. But what would be the point if you didn’t feel anything?

When you are choosing a photographer to work with on anything like this, be it family photography, wedding photography, or whatever… Try and get past the epic mountain ranges and flawless styled shoots, and think about how the photos make you FEEL.

Right. Im going to shut up now. I’m sat on a plane and I don’t want to miss my fleeting chance to order a green tea.

BIG LOVE ALWAYS FOR READING MY WAFFLINGS GUYS. YOU’RE THE ACTUAL BEST.

Now enjoy the pretty pictures pretty please…

xx

PS sending huge hugs, high fives and love to this pair of people, Oli & Lil, who hiked and travelled with me for these shots. I’ll take many more of these adventures please…
