LOVE LETTER TO LONDON (LONDON WEDDING, TRINITY BUOY WHARF)

A VENUE AND LOCATION LIKE TRINITY BUOY WHARF IS SOMETHING EVERY PHOTOGRAPHER GETS PSYCHED ABOUT. IT’S GOT SO MUCH CHARACTER AND GRIT, WITH CITY VIEWS TO BOOT. BUT THE BEST THING ABOUT IT? THE COUPLE WHO BOOKS IT, LOVES IT, FEELS LIKE IT REPRESENTS THEM… AND THEN BOOKS ME. HELL YES. I’LL TAKE LOADS MORE LIKE THIS GUYS, COME RAIN OR SHINE (BOTH OF WHICH, DID!) MAKE SURE TO BROWSE THROUGH TO THE END.. THIS BRIDE, WITH THE CITY VIEW IN LIGHTS IS TOTALLY WORTH IT. YESSSS.

Through and through a city setting, Trinity Buoy Wharf is a wonderful love letter to historical London. You’ve got a bit of everything; exposed brick work, large scale industrial buildings, views of the city across the river, and of, course, the river itself. Butting up against this historical identity, you’ve got modern touches, like the brightly coloured shipping container offices and graffiti murals. But wildly, there’s space too. Tonnes of it.

I think what I liked about it most though, was the fact that this area is still bustling. There’s loads going on. This is not just a wedding venue, and you can feel that buzz as soon as you arrive. A cafe; a drawing school; a Parkour Academy; a lighthouse; endless small creative businesses which are based inside the shipping container buildings; I even saw the ENO had space there… The list goes on. Is there anything more London than all that going on right around you? Crossing paths and buildings and looks over the day, with all sorts of stuff. It’s brilliant.

IT’S EVERYTHING I LOVE ABOUT LONDON.

Then at the heart of it all, were these guys.

We took their couple photos here, in the blinding sunshine, just a few months back. And they seemed so at home in the setting. They share my love of London too, and were so into the variety of urban shot locations we found; everything from contemporary graf to the old London brick. They also, by the way, totally leaned into the process of having their photo taken. And I don’t say this lightly. It can be a bloody intimidating thing, knowing you’re going to have these important photos of yourself taken, and I don’t take that for granted. Also, some clients just don’t enjoy the process that much. It’s no reflection on me or them, it’s just not what they’d rather be doing at that moment! So the trick, is striking that balance.

LONG ENOUGH TO GET THE SHOTS, QUICK ENOUGH TO KEEP THEM IN THE GAME.

I think it’s also important to remember, that not all couples are all PDAs and OTT romance. Some couples prefer a giggle, some prefer to be editorial and cool.. and I’m here for the lot of it. I love that it’s always different. I have zero interest in making a couple something they aren’t. These guys are the perfect example, of how to be entirely yourselves, happy and together, without forcing too hard out of your comfort zone.

Thanks so much guys, for having me shoot such a bad-ass and cool wedding. This venue was an absolute dream for me, and getting to know you guys and your friends and family on the day, was a genuine pleasure.

I’d like to leave a special mention to Patrycija Nowark from the venue, and Hannah Eskanazy from the from the Jimmy Garcia Catering, who did a stellar job of running the logistics of the day, and supported every little request from me too. You legends.

I’m going to gt the kettle on and crack on with this mountain of editing. But with a massive smile on my face. Have a gorgeous week people!
