TO MOVE MOUNTAINS (COUPLE SHOOT, FRENCH ALPS)

YOU KNOW WHAT? LET’S HAVE ANOTHER NON-WEDDING POST, BECAUSE WHY NOT?! AND WHEN IT’S SOMETHING AS STUNNING AS THESE TWO ABSOLUTE DIAMONDS, IN THE MOUNTAINS, CAN YOU BLAME ME?

Important Note- Any unauthorised use of these images is in breach of copyright. Should any blogs or suppliers wish to share these photos, please contact the photographer directly at gemma@thewardettestudio.com.

I’m still neck deep in wedding season right now. I’m smiling through it, some days a little more manically than others, but loving it all the same. So when I’m out shooting back to back weddings, it can be really lovely to break things up with couple shoots and family sessions. It keeps me on my toes.

Spending time with two people, and my camera, is how I get photos like this. It really is that simple. I create situations which look beautiful, yes. But I also try to cultivate situations where honest and real moments can crop up in the middle of it all. I love that these shoots are constantly teaching me how to do this, how it can happen, and how it can always surprise me.

Here’s the other thing I love about couple sessions.. they celebrate two people, in love. That’s it. It doesn’t have to be before a wedding, or just when kids are born and growing. It’s so easy to think that the only times you get photos taken are for weddings and babies. Screw that. What if you don’t marry? Or have babies? And many of us haven’t, be that yet or ever. Does that mean you don’t get to enjoy the process and results of something like this? Nah, come one guys and girls, we’re better than that.

If you’ve got a photographer who you love, book something in. Just do it. Life is short, and the world is a bloody bonkers place right now. Celebrate the people and the love that keeps you up. Be that family, friends, partners, pets, places, yourself.

Ok, my gushing post is over. Now you can get to the good bit.. gorgeous people photographed in gorgeous places. Go on.. scroll through and smile and dream up your own shoot. Then call me. K?

I’ll leave you with a lovely quote, from Robert Hensel, and the mountain inspiration behind the post title this week…

“A single man of one, only pebbles can be moved,

but many men together stands no mountain that can’t move.”

I better get back to editing. I’m putting the kettle on.. again.. for the tenth time today, before 10am…

Ps Happy Birthday Cal! Hope you love the pics, you lovely one :)
