ST MARYS BEVERLEY / SALTMARSHE HALL WEDDING (YORKSHIRE PHOTOGRAPHY)

NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF TRUSTING AND LOVING YOUR WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER COMPLETELY. WE ARE SO CAPABLE, RIGHT? OF COURSE. BUT GIVE US THE CHANCE TO REALLY SHOW YOU WHAT WE CAN DO, AND WE’LL BE BENDING OVER BACKWARDS TO DO IT. IT’S THAT SIMPLE. AND, AS WELL AS GIVE ME STUNNING PLACES TO SHOOT, SARAH-JANE AND JAMES TOTALLY DID THAT. WE CAPTURED SO MANY GORGEOUS, ROMANTIC MOMENTS.. AT ST MARYS CHURCH IN BEVERLEY, TO SALTMARSHE HALL, ALL THE WAY THROUGH TO SUNSET. BE SURE TO SCROLL RIGHT THROUGH TO THE END TO SEE IT!

Listen people, I have worked in my fair share of churches, every one of them being wonderful in it’s own way. But every now and then, a place genuinely gives me butterflies. St Mary’s Church in Beverley is architecturally stunning, with tonnes and tonnes of light pouring in. Add to that Sarah-Jane’s flawless knowledge on how to fill the space with the space with classic music (it’s her job fyi) and you have a ceremony and a setting to keep any photographer beaming from ear to ear.

Unfortunately, the reception was fairly far from the church, with little wiggle room in the schedule. We didn’t really have time allotted to shoot anything other than their confetti and exit. But with their trust, and on very quick feet, I managed to lead them back into the church while we waited for the confetti to be handed out. In the 3 minutes we had, we managed to captured my favourite image from the day.

The pews now empty, and the church dropping back into hushed quiet, I led Sarah-Jane and James away from the obvious central aisle, and off to one side. Here, there was a single shaft of light pouring in. And in moments like this, flawless church architecture really comes into it’s own. All I had to do, was tell them where to stand. Everything else was right there in front of me, just happening, including their adorable just-married vibes,. And I won’t lie, I felt my lower lip shake with the emotion of it.

I will definitely be trying to do this at more of my church weddings.

Sending huge thank yous and love to Sarah-Jane and James again, for having me shoot their gorgeous wedding.
