IN LOVE, IN VINTAGE GLAMOUR (DERBY WEDDING, WESTMILL)
THIS WEEK I EXCITEDLY INTRODUCE YOU ALL TO AN INCREDIBLE VENUE, THE WESTMILL, AND JOIN TONY AND JANE FOR THEIR PROHIBITION THEMED JANUARY WEDDING. NOT ONLY DID THIS VINTAGE THEME FEED MY LOVE FOR GLAMOUR AND SPARKLE, IT ALSO FIT INTO THE STUNNING SETTING PERFECTLY. IT RAINED ALL DAY, BUT HECK, WHO CARES WHEN YOU LOOK THIS GOOD IN A VENUE THIS CHARACTERFUL?!

This building stole my heart a couple of years back, when I shot some styled shoots with The Westmill team. It's an historic Cotton Spinning Mill, which literally stacks floor upon floor of super chic and characterful rooms. Each layer in it's story, plays a vital role in the wedding, and offers bags of space and period detail for photographs. Wherever you point your camera in this building, it quietly and perfectly tells its story;
HISTORIC, INDUSTRIAL, AND RUSTIC, WITH EFFORTLESS AND SEAMLESS TOUCHES OF CHIC CONTEMPORARY STYLE.
Set against all this style, was a wedding of absolute substance. Tony and Jane, from the very beginning, spoke so lovingly and enthusiastically about the joining of their families. With a gang of 6 gorgeous girls and ladies between them, they live life in a wonderful whirlwind of family love and chaos.
IT WASN'T ONLY A BRIDE AND GROOM THE CENTRE OF THIS WEDDING, IT WAS A FAMILY;
beautiful ladies and young girls in everything from navy blue, to sequins, to tulle. Their bridal party was the centre piece really, both stylistically and emotionally, to their whole day.
My favourite moment of the day wasn't the usual golden hour. In January you don't have the luxury of a long day. We also had rain most of the day. At this wedding, it was the time between Jane and her father's entrance to the ceremony.
IT WAS EMOTIONAL, HEARTFELT, AND BEAMING WITH HAPPINESS.
The cotton quarter, the room where the ceremony is held, created a soft and warm backdrop to the scene.
THE HANGING LAMPS WERE GLOWING IN THE LATE AFTERNOON DAYLIGHT, AND THE BLUE BRICK TILED FLOORS REFLECTED THE METALLIC SHINE OF THE CAST IRON CEILING.
Jane's white dress and her father's blue velvet jacket seemed to fit so perfectly in the setting. Tony's excitement and nerves were palpable just to my left, and there wasn't an eye in the room that wasn't fixed on the bride. There was music I'm sure, but I remember the quiet echo of their steps in time across the floor. Romantic, emotional and oh so stylish.
