LOVE IN LONDON (COUPLE PHOTOGRAPHY)
CHRISTMAS IS PASSING US BY, NEW YEAR IS LOOMING, AND I STILL HAVE SO MUCH TO SHARE OF MY 2017 WORK! I THOUGHT WE'D TAKE A LITTLE BREAK FROM ALL THE BEAUTIFUL BABIES, AND JOIN OLLIE AND GEORGIA TO EXPLORE SOME OLD LONDON STREETS. THESE STREETS AROUND SPITALFIELDS ARE REAL-LIFE MOVIE SETS, FULL OF CHARACTER AND HISTORY. PLUS, I'VE LOVED SPITALFIELDS FOR LONGER THAN I CAN REMEMBER... ANY EXCUSE TO COME BACK..
Stepping off the tube at Liverpool Street, and heading towards Spitalfields on that cold Sunday morning, I realised something. Now that I no longer live in London, I use any opportunity I can to return to my favourite places. With every couple shoot I plan, I am drawn back to the places which fill me with the fondest memories and feelings.
IT'S ALMOST AS IF I WANT TO SHOOT LOVE, IN A PLACE I LOVE.
And I can become so attached to places too. You know when you listen to a favourite song for the first time in years, and it takes you directly back to that place in your life; your chest feels full with joy and nostalgia. That's how I feel about these places, even when it's only been a week.
EVERY TURN, EVERY FAVOURITE VIEW, FEELS LIKE A FRESH REVELATION.
In my head, I'm like that awful movie companion who constantly shouts "oooooh, I love this bit" or says everyones' lines two seconds before the the actors do.
I think maybe it works to my favour. I don't always know the couple super well yet, and I also have to get to know their comfort zones and chemistry. But if I know the place, if I feel connected to the setting and feel an emotional connection to it's nooks and crannies, I'm already winning; the setting is already romantic to me, cosy couple or not.
THESE SHOOTS ARE NOT ONLY A RECORD OF A COUPLE IN LOVE, THEY ARE A LOVE LETTER TO A PLACE I ADORE.
QUICK NEARLY-WED Q & A:
DO YOU REMEMBER THE FIRST TIME YOU SAW EACH OTHER?
G: I think Freshers week at the Uni bar! We bonded over the Roxanne drinking game in our first year at University.
O: First time I saw Georgia was at the University Student Union.
WHEN DID YOU FIRST KNOW YOU WANTED TO MARRY THEM?
G: When I lived in Dubai, I realised that I wanted to move back for him, and hopefully spend the rest of our lives together!
O: I knew I wanted to marry her whilst playing the Roxanne drinking game.
HOW DID THEY PROPOSE? HOW DID YOU REACT?
G: Wobbly and on one knee on a very rocky area of our village in Menorca. He carried the ring in one hand wurst trying to help me climb! I was very chocked indeed, but hands down the best day. We spent the day drinking champagne with a family on a boat- DREAMY.
O: I proposed on a cliff head in Menorca! Georgia was shocked but obviously happy!
WHAT DO YOU THINK MAKES YOU WORK SO WELL AS A COUPLE?
G: We're a strong team. We make each other laugh daily but are a super strong unit, always there for each other.
O: The reason we are such a good couple is the ability to make each there laugh at all times. We adore each other and humour always helps!
Many thanks to Ollie and Georgia, who came and met me on such a freezing cold Sunday morning, to beat the market crowds. We had the loveliest hang out chatting about their wedding next year, and sharing stories of our shared love for the snowy mountains.
Bring on the big day guys! It's going to such a blast!
