PINK-PEACH WEDDING INSPIRATION (ELOPEMENT PHOTOGRAPHY)

WOW, WHAT A CRAZY TIME THIS IS. WHILST IN LOCKDOWN I WANTED TO GET BACK TO BLOGGING, SHARING SOME CREATIVE SHOOTS FOR THE FIRST TIME AND CHAT ABOUT CREATIVITY AND CRISIS. WHY DON’T YOU GRAB A BREW, OR A GNT, CURL UP IN THE SUN OR ON THE SOFA, AND LET’S HANG OUT. LET’S FLICK THROUGH SOME BEAUTEOUS CREATIVE MIND BURPS OF MINE (AKA STYLED SHOOT PHOTOS SHOT IN THE FRENCH ALPS) AND HAVE A GAS ABOUT WHY CREATIVITY IS SO DAMN AWESOME.

Don’t worry, this isn't an essay. But since all this lockdown bananas kicked off, I’ve noticed where and how creativity has sprung up and shown up for all of us. On an individual level, but also on a more community and global level too.

Personally, when the proverbial hits the fan, my creativity is and always has been, my go-to. If I’ve been depressed, lost or confused, it’s this wonderful little room in my brain; a place I go and look around the walls at all the little ideas I’ve collected over time.

THERE’S ALSO A WINDOW, WHICH LOOKS OUT INTO THE WORLD WITH THIS FEELING OF VISCERAL OPPORTUNITY.

What can I see and and feel and what can I do with it? 

In that room, I feel like I’m on the verge of creating something. That teeny seed of excitement is what I’ve always lived for. And in the process of doing something creative, I’m absolutely and vividly in the moment. Like, nothing. Else. Matters. Not even how the work turns out. 

BECAUSE CREATIVITY IS EXPRESSIVE. IT’S PRODUCTIVE. AND DAMN IS IT HEALING.

I have watched how the most creative of my friends and colleagues have stepped up in the last few weeks. Shared and played live streams, free of charge. Shared themselves and their art with us; lifted our spirits, brought us up out of a stink or a day or a thought. They’ve created a moment where we feel felt, valued, connected. Musicians- especially in Meribel, I see you.

AND WITH MY WHOLE HEART I SEE YOU FOR THE ABSOLUTE BANGING BEAUTY YOU TO BRING TO THIS WORLD. 

When the economy stops moving, and the world is in crisis, creativity gets to work; gets its head down and quietly feeds the souls that are left wanting.

And what about space? Life gives us so little literal and metaphorical space to dream, to think, to remember, to question. It’s not time that’s so damn valuable.

OFTEN, IT’S THAT HEAD SPACE. LET IT IN, LET IT GROW, LET IT BE.

These photos right here, of these two DIAMOND BEAUTIES, were created in that little room I mentioned before. Usually about this time, each year, as the Winter season slows down and the snow melts in the mountains, I utilise the last month or so before wedding season kicks off, to shoot a few creative things.

I plan them, buy for them, make and customise for them, and style the whole thing. I love it. Seeing that vision through to the final frames is so fun.

Here, it was the colour that got me first. This peachy blush barely-there pink had been on my mind for a while, and then in a single week I spotted this mountain chapel, and the full length dress Nienke is wearing. The perfect colours right? I named this shoot “Blushing Brides”.

Sending out major love to Nienke and Lise for lending their beautiful selves for my camera. Also, major props and squeezes for my girl Patricia, who helped me out with her mind reading skills and arty eye. What a sweltering day of bubbles, giggles and fun that was. So much love for you ladies. I snuck in a little BTS pic right at the end too btw ;)
