SAM & ERIN (COUPLE SHOOT, HENLEY OXFORDSHIRE WEDDING)
IVE HARPED ON QUITE ENOUGH OVER THE LAST FEW YEARS, ABOUT THE VALUE OF COUPLE SHOOTS AHEAD OF YOUR WEDDING. AND PANIC NOT, THIS IS NOT ANOTHER OF THOSE. BUT YOU KNOW WHAT? IT’S ALL ABOUT FEELING COMFORTABLE.. ALL OF IT; THE DRESS, THE SUIT; THE PHOTOGRAPHER; THE VENUE. AND THE LATTER, THAT’S A BIG ONE FOR ME. AND IMHO, THESE GUYS NAILED IT.

I’d never really thought about this specifically before, but in choosing what to write for these photos- it struck me. Comfort is everything to me; at home, in my clothes, with my friends, my clients, where I choose to go out, eat, drink all of it. And so much that, of course, comes from within me. I’ve never really been bothered about what other people might see or think… and I will not be told how to dress, where to sit, how to eat, where to go. Am I rebel, or just plain stubborn? You decide.
But the most important thing to me, is that I am around people, in clothes, and in places that make me feel most like me. Make sense? When I work, making people comfortable is probably what I am doing the most, without realising.
SO, CREATING THAT BUBBLE OF COMFORT, INTERESTING, IS AT THE HEART OF THE WAY I AM.
It’s no surprise then, that when I meet a couple at their wedding venue, I pick up on all these things. And these guys passed with flying colours. Not only were Sam & Erin chilled as hell and super easy going to hang to with (they ordered me a glass of bubbles, so we’re already mates), they also fitted into their venue like a glove. It’s in a gorgeous little pub called The Crooked Billet, near Henley.
THIS PLACE IS THE PERFECT MIX OF COSY, HISTORIC AND RELAXED.
And there we sat, in the pub, having a drink; sunlight pouring in through the low windows in shafts, people busily moving between he rooms and low doorways with plates of delicious food and drink. The gentle clicks of plates and glasses echo in the background felt so familiar. All of it did. And that’s why, for me, the right pub and the right landlord, can make for the PERFECT wedding reception.
Sam & Erin, I really hope you love these photos. I am beyond psyched to get back there and shoot you getting married! Let’s hop fences and sit on broken pianos all over again… and drink bubbles. Obvs.
