WELCOME TO THE WORLD... OSCAR (BABY PHOTOGRAPHY)
THIS WEEKEND, WE SHARE A GORGEOUS BABY SESSION WITH LITTLE OSCAR. AT NO MORE THAN SIX WEEKS OLD, HE AND HIS PARENTS WILL ABSOLUTELY MELT YOU. AND WITH ALL THIS SNOW, THAT CAN ONLY BE A GOOD THING... BE SURE TO FLICK THROUGH TO SEE THE CHANGE IN HIM IN TWO SESSIONS, JUST TWO WEEKS APART!
A baby shoot is always an unknown. There is no way of telling how the little one will feel on the day, and the smaller they are, they harder they are to predict. I shoot in a very particular way with newborns-
ALWAYS FROM WITHIN THE HOME SPACE AND ALWAYS AROUND THEIR NORMAL ROUTINE.
It often means I am there a while, but it helps me to capture the tiny babies in their most natural state. The photos here are from two different sessions, about a two weeks apart.
Our first session was more difficult. Oscar was happiest and most peaceful when feeding (aren't we all?!) so we went with it. Rather than fighting it, we shot everything that happened. It might not be how one pictures a photo session,
BUT SOMETIMES THESE MOMENTS ARE MOST PRECIOUS.
The fleeting moments when Oscar's little face cracks into a cry, or a sneeze, or a frown. These expressions will mean even more as he changes and grows up so fast.
Our second session was a complete contrast, and Oscar was an absolute dream. His eyes were wide and alert, and his interaction with his parents and the camera were entirely different.
I FELT AS IF I WERE GENUINELY CAPTURING HIS LIKENESS, AND HIS CHARACTER.
His facial features had developed so much in just one month, and I could genuinely see likenesses to his mother and father.
Every shoot is special, especially when I have photographed their wedding, or their engagement. Being asked back to shoot their new arrivals, their growing families, is a privilege. But this session is extra special. I grew up with Oscar's father, Matt, andWHILST PHOTOGRAPHING LITTLE BABY OSCAR UP CLOSE, HAD FLEETING FLASHBACKS OF CHILDHOOD MEMORIES.
Call me sentimental, but it was pretty emotional. In the best possible way.
I will leave you with this gorgeous little family, and a huge heartfelt thank you to Lauren and Matt for asking me to photograph something so wonderful. Sending lots of love!
